Hamad International Airport opens 2nd hotel in terminal

Hamad International Airport Doha’s Hamad International Airport (HIA) has opened the Oryx Garden Hotel, the second airport hotel within its award-winning terminal.

This is the newest location where travelers can unwind during a layover, and it is located in the North Plaza. The Oryx Garden Hotel is only one of the numerous novelties that will be introduced as part of the HIA’s airport development project in preparation for the eagerly awaited FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The airport expansion project substantially expands HIA’s cutting-edge amenities, which will include more than 90 brands in one sizable shopping area, a world-class art collection, a refreshing environment with lush greenery, and a 10,000 sq m indoor tropical garden with a 268 sq m water feature – a focal point for all travelers.

Commenting on the opening of the Oryx Garden Hotel, HIA’s Chief Operating Officer Badr Mohammed Al Meer said: “We are delighted to announce the opening of our second airport hotel at HIA. This is just one of the many new offerings our airport will be unveiling as part of our exciting expansion plans. The Oryx Garden Hotel adds yet another sustainable, world-class facility to the world’s best airport, offering a relaxing environment for guests to unwind and discover the extraordinary destination that is HIA.”

The Oryx Garden Hotel, with its 100 rooms that range in size from king to twin, as well as suites, provides guests with complimentary new generation WIFI throughout the property and easy access to a number of nearby dining and shopping options. Every accommodation is conveniently situated inside the terminal, close to the boarding gates. The hotel can be reserved 24/7 for a maximum of 24 hours and has a modern, contemporary design that appeals to both business and leisure travelers.

The Vitality Wellbeing and Fitness Center at Oryx Airport Hotel, which is close to the famous Lamp Bear art installation in the airport’s South Plaza, is available to guests of The Oryx Garden Hotel. The options to relax are endless with a 25-meter swimming pool, gym, spa, and squash court available for use by passengers while waiting to board. Customers may easily travel between the North and South Plazas of the airport on the passenger train to get to The Oryx Airport Hotel.

In an ongoing attempt to run completely environmentally friendly operations, both of the airport hotels at HIA have introduced a number of green initiatives. Instead of using plastic water bottles, the hotels will use environmentally friendly water bottles. Other environmentally friendly actions taken by hotels include switching to recycled paper for all printing needs and operations and using biodegradable bags in place of plastic ones. Plastic coffee cups have been exchanged out for recyclable paper cups, and plastic lids have been replaced with polylactic acid (PLA) caps made from plants for hotel room amenities like cotton buds and coffee mugs.

EcoPure PET biodegradable bottles have replaced plastic bottles for body creams and shampoos. Starch toothbrushes and shaving tools have taken the role of plastic dentistry and grooming kits, and eco-friendly versions of plastic slippers, combs, and shower caps are now available.

Along with the opening of the new hotel, HIA intends to reveal their growth plan, which would enable them to accommodate more than 58 million passengers annually. Following the FIFA World Cup, HIA will continue to expand, with a second addition expected to increase capacity to over 60 million people.

The two-time SKYTRAX #1 airport guarantees guests a journey unlike any other by working with FIFA’s organizing committee to deliver hundreds of thousands of tourists and new visitors with a safe and enjoyable experience.
